Hotel School Session

Actually it was a very delicious PPD session with lots of delicious foods at Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management.😋 We learnt lot about table ethics as well as how to dress properly for special events, how to behave in official meetings like occasions etc.

As future software engineers we have to have discipline and knowledge about how to behave in a meeting and how to express our views without putting down others and how to brand our self  like important criteria s. 

There are some important things which we should not do in the official meetings. Some of them are,

• Interrupt others when they are talking
• speak louder
• put down others ideas
• Use any non-verbal communication to show your displeasure with what others are saying

Not only the official meeting, we also have to participate for the non-official dinner parties and other meetings. In these kind of occasions, we should not talk about gossips and other non-important, in-apposite things like politics and criticizing others.  

And also we must have an idea about how to dress properly for these kind of situations. It is must to dress as the best. Because it will show up our personality too. 

Then the session is conducted about table ethics and etiquette fork and and knife by a lecturer from hotel school. Basically the table manners are the rules used while eating. Different cultures use different rules for table manners. As Sri Lankans we received those things from England. As we learnt there, Basically we must follow these steps.

• Napkin go in your lap as soon as possible
• Wait to begin
• Line up your bread and drinks
• Follow the leaders
• Time your chat
• Rest when done

After learning all these things we could taste 3 course yummy meal, which was including avocado juice, soup, roast chicken in English style as the main menu and coffee gateau cake.
